Wyman welcomes 5 new trustees

As we kick off the New Year, Wyman is happy to welcome five new Trustees to our Board! Marnae Chavers, Je’Von Adams-Walker, Laura Giokas, Dr. Florian Sichling, and Robyn Heidger each bring a wide range of expertise and experience to their roles as Wyman Trustees. We are excited to partner with each of them in 2021 and beyond, as they help lead the organization forward and strengthen our commitment to youth!


Marnae Chavers

Marnae Chavers is an educator, entrepreneur, and a Wyman alumna. Marnae received her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Missouri and her Masters of Education in Secondary Science from John Hopkins University. Marnae served in Teach for America and taught in the United Arab Emirates. Back in St. Louis, Marnae currently teaches 3rd grade at St. Louis Public Schools. As a new Wyman board member, Marnae says “I am looking forward to learning more about the different committees and exchanging ideas with the board. Wyman has such an amazing impact on teens in St. Louis and I’m excited to have a part in that.”
Why Wyman? “The Wyman team has made a positive contribution to the St. Louis community.”

Je’Von Adams-Walker

Je’Von at Wyman summer camp

Je’Von Adams-Walker is a Wyman alum and former camp counselor. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his MBA from Webster University. Je’Von currently works at Nestle Purina, working in procurement and also serves on the board at Loyola Academy. As a new Wyman board member, Je’Von says “I am most looking forward to being part of an organization that helped me grow into the individual I have become today. I am also looking forward to the future impact that we will make on teens within our programs.”
Why Wyman? “The why is easy. After being a camper in the program as well as being a counselor, I have experienced the program and can relate to every camper and counselor. Wyman continues to produce great results and is a pillar in the St. Louis area.”

Laura Giokas
General Counsel at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner
Laura Giokas is the General Counsel for Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, managing and coordinating all firm-related legal matters. In this role, she also advises the firm on strategic and operational decisions and develops firm-wide protocols and policies in the risk management area. Laura is committed to our community and has also volunteered with many organizations, including as a Committee Member for St. Louis Race for the Cure, a Mentor for the St. Louis Regional Business Council, and a Law Student Mentor for the Women’s Law Association. As a new Wyman board member, Laura says “I look forward to learning more about Wyman programs and participating in them. I also look forward to meeting the other trustees and driving forward the Wyman mission.”
Why Wyman? “Building confidence and critical thinking in teenagers is crucial to not only their future success but also our community’s success. Wyman is a critical component in developing these skills.”

Dr. Florian Sichling
Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Missouri-St. Louis
Dr. Florian Sichling grew up in Nuremberg, Germany and is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Florian received his PhD from the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago, and his research focuses on the transition to adulthood of disadvantaged, immigrant, and minority youth in the United States and Germany. Florian has been a member of Wyman’s Program Committee and as he looks ahead to joining the Wyman board, he says “I am thrilled to get involved in the real world work with young people in St. Louis.”
Why Wyman? “Wyman is an amazing organization that has a long history of making a difference in young people’s lives!”

Robyn Heidger
Senior Vice President, Strategic Alliances & Inclusion at Enterprise Bank & Trust
Robyn Heidger is the Senior Vice President, Strategic Alliances & Inclusion at Enterprise Bank & Trust. Robyn is responsible for developing strategic alliances and building relationships with community groups and organizations representing diverse interests in the St. Louis, Kansas City, Phoenix and New Mexico markets. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Missouri State University and was recently appointed to the Community Development Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. As a new Wyman board member, Robyn says “I am looking forward to learning more about the various programs and how I can help with their success.”
Why Wyman? “Wyman has an excellent reputation for doing impactful work in empowering youth. This work is critical to our future.”
