Sponsor Spotlight: Cargill

First time Gala sponsor, but multi-year supporter of Wyman, Cargill believes that #WYMANTeensWill Thrive and Grow – and that is why they have expanded their support to our 2022 Gala.

Over 150 years old and headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, Cargill works every day to help the world thrive. Cargill employs over 155,000 professionals in 70 countries. They work alongside farmers, producers, manufacturers, retailers, governments, and other organizations to nourish the world in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way. Community engagement is one way that Cargill is committed to helping the world – and the communities they work within – thrive. Through economic development, philanthropy, and employee volunteerism, Cargill and their employees are committed to their communities. In fiscal year 2021, Cargill provided $110.5 million in charitable contributions in 56 countries. Through overall corporate giving and local giving by more than 350 Cargill Cares Councils around the world, Cargill partners with nonprofit organizations on programs that improve food security and nutrition; support human rights; increase equity and inclusion; strengthen farmer livelihoods; and advance their commitments in the areas of land use, water, and climate.

“Cargill has a defined strategy around social equity and justice. As part of that strategy, we believe that helping underrepresented populations become more involved in the agricultural field, and Cargill as a whole, will improve the diversity and inclusion of our industry. We work with organizations with missions that align to our goals of improving gender parity and increasing the number of BIPOC in agriculture. Wyman has a mission that aligns well with our objectives of advancing equity and justice – within Cargill and within the communities we serve,” says James Monger, DEI Champion at Cargill.

Since 2020, Cargill has become a dedicated supporter of Wyman – supporting the educational progress of Wyman Leaders teens, volunteering at Camp Wyman, and supporting our 2022 Gala. “There are many organizations that serve today’s youth, but to do it in a manner that is consistent over a long period of time is impressive. Providing teens with experiences they will always remember, and that they might not otherwise have, is a key component of the Wyman experience,” says Monger. “The community has a responsibility to support organizations like Wyman; it takes a village, and we are all part of that village. Supporting teens today through programs, like the ones Wyman offers, will yield positive changes for the teens and their communities over time.”
