The 2021-2022 school year marks our fourth year at the School District of University City. Since the pandemic began, our Wrap Around Services team has taken an increasingly active role as the district navigated the pandemic. The team shifted from behind-the-scenes to the front-lines of student services, standing with the district to distribute meals and deliver household supplies, books, and even desks to students who needed them. In the 2020-2021 school year, over 750,000 meals were distributed to 1,101 students, including 42,000 pounds of fresh produce and 5,607 boxes of supplemental non-perishable items.
Wyman staff and district administration delivered wellness packages to staff members, focused on ensuring connection and maintaining critical supports through the ongoing challenges of the dual-pandemic – COVID-19 and racial injustice. The scope of support provided to service providers throughout the district also expanded as guidelines and recommendations shifted, challenging providers to offer virtual, hybrid, and essential in-person services. The focus was meeting rising student needs and helping providers navigate shifting protocols to ensure safety and compliance.
