Wyman is seeking committed, mission-oriented individuals to build organizational capacity through the AmeriCorps VISTA program in support of long-term impact for young people in our region. We are currently recruiting for 2020/2021 opportunities.
- National Network VISTA– The National Network VISTA member will build the capacity of Wyman’s National Network, which serves a network of agencies providing services to high need communities, by updating existing practices and implementing new practices for Wyman’s program resource database, including developing management standards and new materials that capture program implementation summaries and results. As a result of the VISTA member’s service, they will help improve the usability of existing program support materials thus enabling Wyman’s National Network to better address requests for materials from existing partners and reach more organization’s interested in exploring utilizing Wyman programs in their own communities. Through this enhanced reach, more young people will be supported in Wyman’s programs and will be better equipped to break the cycle of poverty. Click here to learn more and apply today!
- Wrap Around Services VISTA- Wrap Around Services (WAS) at the School District of University City (SDUC) enters the 3rd of a 4-year grant in the fall. We look to build capacity through program evaluation and the development of a plan for long-term sustainability. As a result of the VISTAs service, 3300 students and staff members will receive continued access to high quality instruction related to social-emotional learning, increased access to external providers, and improved alignment between initiatives within the district. SDUC serves a high poverty population, and developing a framework for continued WAS will ensure that students retain access to supports that promote positive social, emotional, and educational outcomes that help combat risks associated with growing up in poverty. Additionally, the VISTA member will develop engagement and fundraising strategies for Wyman’s upcoming 125th anniversary in 2023. As a result, Wyman’s fundraising capacity will be expanded, allowing us to sustain and strengthen local programmatic offerings and support young people to positive outcomes that give them a better chance of breaking the cycle of poverty for years to come.
