Directions to Wyman center

From St. Louis:

Take I-44 West to the MO-109/MO-W exit #264. As you exit, get into the center lane and turn right off the exit onto Hwy 109. Take an immediate left at the first stoplight onto Fifth Street. Then take a right at the second stoplight onto Meramec Blvd. Follow Meramec Blvd. for about 1.5 miles until you reach the stop sign at Forby Road at the bottom of a long hill. Turn left onto Forby Road and follow it for just over a mile to the entrance of Wyman’s campus.

From southwest of Eureka:

Take I-44 East to the MO-109/MO-W exit #264. Turn left onto MO-109. Go under I-44 and turn left at the stoplight onto Fifth Street. Then take a right at the second stoplight onto Meramec Blvd. Follow Meramec Blvd. for about 1.5 miles until you reach the stop sign at Forby Road at the bottom of a long hill. From west St. Louis county:

Take Manchester Road west of Clarkson Road to Old State Road. Turn left at Old State and follow until it dead-ends at Hwy 109. Turn left on 109. Take a right onto Fifth Street. Dave Hilliard — President/CEO

President since 1975, Dave works with the Wyman board of Trustees to define and achieve the agency vision, mission and strategic goals, which has resulted in establishing the agency as a recognized national expert in teen leadership and development for adolescents living in impoverished circumstances. Operationally, he provides leadership and support to executive staff implementing strategy through five operating units.

Dave currently serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the John Cook School of Business at St. Louis University, the Advisory Board of the Non-Profit Leadership and Management Program at the University of Missouri at St Louis, the national Task Force on Education and Accreditation of the American Camp Association and on City of St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay’s Commission on Children Youth and Families. Dave lectures at universities and consults nonprofits on the national level as well. His areas of emphasis include: managing organizational change, social innovation and entrepreneurship, strategic planning, marketing, youth development, organizational leadership and board/staff relations in nonprofit management.

Recognitions of Hilliard’s contributions include personal and agency awards from: The American Camping Association, Kiwanis International, St. Louis County, The Progressive Youth Center, Commerce Bank/William T. Kemper Foundation’s Community Service Award, FOCUS St. Louis’ What’s Right with the Region, McDonnell Douglas Crystal Vision Award and others. Dave’s leadership style is featured in the book, “The Leader as Communicator” by Robert Mai and Alan Akerson, The American Management Association, publisher.

Dave has a B.A. in Psychology from SLU and has done graduate level work in business, psychology and counseling. He holds certificates in: The Administration of Voluntary Agencies from the United Way; Grantsmanship and Fundraising from the Grantsmanship Center of San Francisco; and The Neighborhood Leaders Program of the Coro Foundation. Dave is a member of Focus St. Louis and has completed its core leadership program.


Kristine Ramsey — Sr. Vice President, Development

Kristine Ramsey began working for Wyman in 2003 as the director of development. Her primary focus at that time was on the Wyman annual fund. In September 2005, she assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Development and now leads the team in all annual campaign and major gift work, donor relations and public relations to ensure Wyman meets all goals necessary to advance their work on behalf of youth from disadvantaged circumstances.

Prior to joining Wyman, Kris spent more than seven years at the Sisters of Mercy. During that time, she conducted fund raising efforts for St. John’s Mercy Medical Center and worked with the Sisters of Mercy establishing, setting policy for and administering a multi-million dollar fund to provide support to national and international ministries with which the Sisters were involved. Kris worked with the Board that awarded grants, as well as with applicants engaged in the application process.

Prior to working with Sisters of Mercy, Kris worked in fundraising with other local not-for-profits, including Girls Inc. and the Asthma & Allergy Foundation.

Kris holds a master’s degree in marketing from Webster University, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism/advertising from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.


Claire Wyneken — Sr. Vice President, Wyman Institute for Youth Development

Claire L. Wyneken joined Wyman in 1987 and has held positions in direct service, management and the executive staff. Claire currently serves as the Senior VP, Wyman Institute for Youth Development, where she provides executive leadership and directs Wyman’s research, assessment, training and program replication. Claire consults, advises and is active in advancing positive youth development.

Her collaborative and partner work includes the Forum for Youth Investment, High Scope Educational Research Foundation, St. Louis for Kids, Forest Park Forever, The Teen Pregnancy and Prevention Partnership, CORO, FOCUS St. Louis and the Youth Development Provider Network. Claire is also a graduate of National Conference for Community & Justice - Dismantling Racism Institute (1997), CORO Women in Leadership (1998), Leadership St. Louis (2002). Claire holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University, and has completed graduate coursework in education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.


Tom Etzkorn — Vice President, Special Projects

Tom prospects for and develops social entrepreneur opportunities that draw on Wyman’s core competencies or assets. In the pipeline he has vended services, which encompasses school camps, outdoor education, team building, retreats, reunions and conferences; Community Sustainable Agriculture; and the Peak Performance Predictor an online instrument used for both pre-employment screening and post hire employee development. Tom also serves as a peer coach to the other agency executives. Prior to joining Wyman in 2006, Tom’s career encompassed 30 plus years of Fortune 500 senior level General Management and Human Resource’s experience for The May Department Stores Company and Dayton Hudson Corp (Target). As a member of the respective organizations’ Senior Management Team, Tom’s experience included corporate and division level responsibilities for strategy development and execution, strategic human resources planning, compensation and benefits, teambuilding, recruiting, selecting, staffing, developing and leading teams to accomplish organizational mission and achieve key goals. Tom received both a BS (Management) and MBA (Finance) from Saint Louis University. In addition Tom served as member of the Saint Louis Urban League Board of Directors and Chaired the Board of Directors for Nerinx Hall High School.


Joe Miller, MPA — Sr. VP and TOPnet General Manager

Possessing over 14 years of senior executive experience, Joe leads Wyman’s efforts to replicate the Teen Outreach Program in the St. Louis region and across the state of Missouri. A professional in partnership building and communications, Joe spent 14 years working with local, county, state and federal governments to form $150,000,000 of public-private partnerships — first working for the City of St. Louis and then as a corporate executive. Joe has blended his non-profit, government and business expertise as an adjunct professor at St. Louis University. He holds a master’s degree in public administration and frequently shares his youth leadership skills with various St. Louis community organizations and schools.


Allison Williams, MSW, LCSW — Sr. Vice President, Programs

Allison is responsible for the oversight of Wyman’s regional youth development services, including the Wyman Teen Leadership Program and Wyman Teen Outreach Program. This work includes program replication with fidelity to Wyman’s outcomes and logic models, partnership and resource development, and staff training and support.

Allison first began working at Wyman in 1993 as a summer camp counselor with teens, eventually directing the summer program. Allison’s returned to Wyman in March, 1999, and has overseen agency program evaluation, supervised a variety of youth development and community-based programs, and managed a local partnership with social service agencies. Allison’s work on Wyman’s TOP national replication has included training, follow-up support to partners, and systems building.

Allison earned a Bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University and a Master’s degree from Boston College, both in Social Work, and holds a Missouri Clinical Social Worker license. Her professional experience includes clinical social work roles in the Boston Public Schools, a residential treatment center for youth, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, all of which involved direct work with children and families.

Allison is a social work field instructor for Saint Louis University, Washington University in St. Louis, and University of Missouri – St. Louis. She is a graduate of the Leadership St. Louis program and Dismantling Racism Institute, as well as an active community volunteer.

Theresa Mayberry, PhD — Sr. VP, National Strategy and Partnerships

Theresa is responsible for the national strategy and execution for replication of Wyman’s TOP™. Theresa has served in many executive level positions, including CEO of Grace Hill and as the Bureau Deputy Directory for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Currently serving as an Annie E. Casey fellow, Theresa is recognized nationally for her skill sets and accomplishments. With a background in counseling and a PhD in Social Work, Theresa provides the TOP™ team with strategic insights, coaching, and mentoring.

Mindy Sharp — Sr. Vice President, Finance & Administration

Mindy Sharp joined Wyman in 2003 and previously held the role of Director of Finance. In 2007, she assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration. Her responsibilities include oversight of Wyman’s fiscal operations including budget and financial accounting. In addition, she is responsible for facilities, food services, information technology and benefits administration. Her 11 years of experience include prior finance and accounting management roles at JetCorp, LLC and TDK Technologies. Mindy holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Fontbonne University and has completed graduate course work towards her M.B.A.
